A variety of trees were planted on the streets of Hoboken in mid to end of April this year thanks to the financial support provided by The Taco Truck Restaurant, the Quality of Life Coalition’s Committee for a Green Hoboken (which was the recipient of the restaurant’s donation), the City of Hoboken and the city’s Shade Tree Commission. Planting trees is just the beginning; caring for the fledgling trees is the next step and YOU can be involved.

The Quality of Life Coalition and our Committee for a Green Hoboken are seeking volunteers to “adopt” one (or more, if possible) of these new trees. YOU are invited to be a “Treekeeper” who will care for your adopted tree through the Spring of 2012. Your primary responsibilities are:

1. To provide 20 gallons of water per week through October 2011;
2. Advise the Hoboken Shade Tree Commission if a tree takes a turn for the worse by contacting Shade Tree Commissioner Steve Fahmie at steve34@gmail.com.

You will have the opportunity to select a tree(s) of your choice. Contact Steve Fahmie at the e-mail above giving you name, address, email and phone number. He, in turn, will contact you with a list of the new trees that are in your general vicinity from which you may select your adopted tree(s).

Thank you for responding to this opportunity to take a personal interest in how trees are able to grow and thrive in Hoboken. The neighborhood thanks you, the Quality of Life Coalition thanks you and the City of Hoboken thanks you.
